Kekkola is a farmhouse on lake Rappunen in Rantasalmi. Kekkola has space for the whole family or even bigger groups, for having holidays or enjoying weekend parties or celebrations with family or friends.

The charming old house of Kekkola is full of unique old-world atmosphere, ideal also for festive celebrations. Kekkola is close to a beautiful lake surrounded by traditional Finnish countryside of fields and forests to be enjoyed in privacy. Pets are also welcome to Kekkola as there is a lot of space around the house for them. The nearest neighbours are about 1 km away.

Kekkola has everything it takes to have a successful country holiday; large garden area around the house, rowing boats, sauna on the lake, barbeque areas, plus quiet and peaceful nature. The swimming area of lake Rappunen has smooth shallow bottom safe for children.  The lake is 3,5 km long and 1,8 km wide, especially rich with birds and fish, really excellent if you are  keen on fishing.

In Kekkola you can enjoy relaxing and charging your batteries should you like that, on the other hand there are a lot of alternative things to do;  the nearby services, village life and culture, and local produce, are all easily available. You can pop in the summer café only 700m away or it is 4,5 km to a restaurant at the Kuus-Hukkala holiday village. Rantasalmi and Juva have supermarkets and other services both just at a 20 minutes’ drive, Savonlinna at half an hour’s drive, and Mikkeli at under one hour’s drive. Savonlinna is known for its lively market square, and  Olavinlinna castle where the world  famous opera festival  is held every year. Mikkeli has large shopping centres for the shopaholics.

Kekkola buildings

The main building of Kekkola was renovated in 2001. There is a traditional large country house living room, a kitchen, and two bedrooms in the house
(2 + 4). About 60 metres from the house on the lake there is an insulated cabin with electricity for four people sleeping.  Summer outbuilding (Called Orbinskin Aitta with two rooms; Aleks and Ilmi ) near the main house offer additional sleeping space for five people (2 + 3) during the warm summer months. There is also a old drying barn in the field for a living room, dining room and accomodation (for 4 people).

The sauna building including a dressing room and a verandah is on the lake. Lighting and water pump bringing lake water to the sauna are both electric. On the lake there is also a spacious covered grill, and near the house
a barbeque place and a patio. The house and the sauna both have separate outhouses (loos) and firewood sheds.

Dining and cooking at Kekkola

The large living room table of Kekkola has space for 8-10 diners. The old drying barn in the field has also space for 8-10 diners. There is also the patio with a fireplace in the yeard and on the covered grill on the lake. For bigger celebrations we have a large marquee plus tables and chairs for you to hire.

Water to the kitchen is hand pumped and carried from an outdoor well. There are two large fridges in the kitchen plus an earth cellar for keeping foods cool. Cooking is done either on the wood stove, in the wood oven, on the electric cooker in the kitchen, barbequed or grilled near the house or on the lake, where there is an oven for smoke curing fish as well.
